This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains the rules and restrictions that apply to your use of Hosteering services.
By using Hosteering services, you agree to comply with this AUP, our Terms of Service, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Hosteering reserves the right to take appropriate action when an account or service violates this policy or creates a risk to our infrastructure, customers, or other internet users.

1. Lawful Use

You may use Hosteering services only for lawful purposes.
You must not use our services to conduct, facilitate, promote, or assist with activities that violate applicable laws or regulations.
You are responsible for ensuring that your websites, applications, content, and activities comply with the laws applicable to you and your use of our services.

2. Prohibited Activities

You may not use Hosteering services for activities including, but not limited to:

  • Fraud, scams, or deceptive activities.
  • Phishing or credential theft.
  • Identity theft or impersonation.
  • Distribution of malware, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious software.
  • Unauthorized access to computers, servers, networks, or accounts.
  • Hacking or attempting to compromise third-party systems.
  • Denial-of-service or distributed denial-of-service attacks.
  • Port scanning or network reconnaissance intended to facilitate unauthorized access.
  • Hosting or distributing tools primarily intended to compromise or attack systems.
  • Operating botnets or similar malicious networks.
  • Hosting content that facilitates serious criminal activity.
  • Using our infrastructure to interfere with or disrupt other networks, services, or users.

This list is not exhaustive. Hosteering may take action against other activities that present a similar security, legal, or operational risk.

3. Spam and Email Abuse

Hosteering services must not be used to send spam or unsolicited bulk email.
You must not use our infrastructure to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk messages.
  • Operate spam campaigns.
  • Harvest or purchase email lists for unsolicited messaging.
  • Send messages using forged or misleading sender information.
  • Operate phishing or fraudulent email campaigns.
  • Circumvent spam filters or email security systems.
  • Use compromised websites or accounts to distribute unsolicited messages.

If your website or account is compromised and begins sending abusive email, Hosteering may temporarily restrict the affected service to protect our infrastructure and other customers.

4. Malware and Compromised Websites

You must not knowingly host or distribute malware, malicious scripts, viruses, ransomware, or other software designed to compromise or damage systems.
If we identify a compromised website, account, or application that poses a security risk, we may take reasonable steps to protect our infrastructure and other customers.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Temporarily suspending the affected website or account.
  • Restricting specific services.
  • Removing malicious files where necessary to protect our infrastructure.
  • Requiring the customer to secure or clean the affected website before restoring service.

Where practical, we will notify the customer and provide information about the issue.

5. Resource Usage

Hosting resources are shared or allocated according to the hosting plan you purchase.
You must not use Hosteering services in a manner that unnecessarily or excessively consumes server resources or negatively affects other customers.
This may include excessive:

  • CPU usage
  • Memory usage
  • Disk usage
  • Database activity
  • Network traffic
  • Processes
  • Server requests

Examples may include poorly optimized applications, abusive scripts, cryptocurrency mining, uncontrolled automated processes, or other activities that place unreasonable load on the hosting environment.
If your usage negatively affects server stability or other customers, Hosteering may contact you and request that the issue be resolved.
Where necessary, we may temporarily restrict, suspend, or modify the affected service.

6. Security and Unauthorized Access

You must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to:

  • Hosteering servers or infrastructure.
  • Other customers' accounts or websites.
  • Third-party servers or networks.
  • Administrative systems.
  • Databases or applications that you do not have permission to access.

You must not attempt to bypass authentication, security controls, access restrictions, or other protective measures.
Security testing, penetration testing, scanning, or similar activities against systems that you do not own or have explicit permission to test are prohibited.

7. Content and Intellectual Property

You are responsible for the content you host through Hosteering.
You must not knowingly use our services to host or distribute content that infringes another person's intellectual property rights or violates applicable law.
You are responsible for obtaining all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for content you upload or distribute.
Hosteering may investigate credible complaints regarding abusive, infringing, or unlawful content and may take appropriate action where necessary.

8. Network and Infrastructure Abuse

You must not use Hosteering infrastructure to interfere with the operation of networks, servers, websites, or services.
Prohibited activities include:

  • Network attacks.
  • Denial-of-service attacks.
  • Deliberate traffic flooding.
  • Unauthorized network scanning.
  • Exploiting vulnerabilities in third-party systems.
  • Deliberately disrupting services.
  • Using compromised systems to attack other systems.
  • Activities designed to evade or circumvent network security controls.

Hosteering may take immediate action when such activity presents an active security or operational threat.

9. Account and Website Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and websites.
You should:

  • Use strong and unique passwords.
  • Keep WordPress, plugins, themes, and other software updated.
  • Remove unused software.
  • Protect administrative accounts.
  • Use appropriate security measures.
  • Maintain independent backups of important data.

If you discover that your account or website has been compromised, you should contact Hosteering as soon as possible.

10. Enforcement

Hosteering may investigate suspected violations of this AUP.
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Contact you and request corrective action.
  • Provide a warning.
  • Restrict specific services or resources.
  • Temporarily suspend a website or account.
  • Suspend network or email functionality.
  • Terminate a service or account.
  • Preserve relevant information where reasonably necessary for an investigation.
  • Report suspected illegal activity to appropriate authorities where required or reasonably necessary.

Hosteering will consider the circumstances and severity of an issue when determining the appropriate response.
In cases involving serious security threats, active attacks, fraud, or other urgent risks, immediate action may be taken without prior notice.

11. Reporting Abuse

If you believe a website or account hosted with Hosteering is being used for abuse, fraud, phishing, malware distribution, or other prohibited activity, please contact us through the contact details provided on the Hosteering website.
When reporting an issue, please provide enough information for us to investigate, such as the affected domain, relevant URLs, screenshots, or a description of the suspected abuse.
We will review credible reports and take appropriate action where necessary.

12. Changes to This Policy

Hosteering may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time.
When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of Hosteering services after an updated policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
